Sushi double date!

My friend Kari has been in town this week, she lives in Chicago but is from GR and is working here quite a bit with Meijer so she has been staying at her parents house. She came over on Wednesday night to hang out with us and we decided that it was time the boys go have sushi night with us! So last night we headed downtown to our favorite sushi place "Marado". Sam and Parks were super excited to go. They love going downtown. I think they are "big city" kids!!! Kari and I have spent MANY hours at this restaurant over the years, especially when I was pregnant for the boys. We just kept laughing at how funny it was to have them their with us! Marado is right on the Monroe Center shopping street so we got a seat by the window so the boys would have lots to look at. We must have had a "special" trash can because there were quite a few people digging thru it for something? Oh and the two homeless men smoking a joint right in front of our window was quite entertaining also! Hey it's all about diversity!

Needless to say we had a blast. The boys loved it and Kari and I had a great time with our dates. We even stopped at the ice cream garage afterwards for dessert! The boys adore Kari, they kept asking her if she was going to spend the night!!! They didn't believe her that she lived in Chicago because we didn't see her when we visited a couple weeks ago! Ha!

Parker "posing" for this picture. He actually said "Kari take my picture with me doing this" and he gave us this pose. Watch out Zoolander!

Sam enjoying his "sushi noodles" and Edamame

They were cracking us up with the noodles!

Preparing for a big Henrion week!!!

Next week, June 5th is my sister in law's baby shower. We are having it in Bay City because that is near Pinconning where my in-law's live. I'm so excited to be planning it with my Mother In Law. I am having a blast coming up with fun ideas, games, decorations. Today me and the boys went to Party City to get some plates, napkins and table decorations.

Me and the Mom to be on her graduation day last year.
It's Doctor Auntie Kim!!!

Another big thing going on next week in the Henrion family is that Kris, Nate's older brother is coming home for two weeks. He has been deployed in Afghanistan for 6 months now and before that he was in Italy for 6 months so we haven't seen him in a year. We are all so proud of him and can't wait to see him and hear everthing that he has gone through over there.

Summer Days

So have I mentioned how hot it is? Well in case you missed it....SUMMER has arrived!! Yay! With Nate being out of town all week we have had to get creative and try to come up with some fun things to do.

Wednesday morning we had breakfast outside on the deck. Sam thought it was SUPER cool and kept telling me over and over that he was outside with his Pj's on. Ha! This was the best picture I got of the two of them.

We did some painting but decided to do it inside because it was later in the morning and the bee's were swarming the deck. The only downfall of summer is those pesky bees.

We blew up the "big" pool. I actually got in the pool it was darn hot outside and we have to put it in the front yard because the back yard is all shade.

Sam found a caterpillar and let it crawl all over him. SHOCKING since Sam normally cannot stand bugs anywhere near him.

The water was freezing cold but he didn't care!

HOT HOT HOT

Remember like a month ago when I was complaining about how cold it was. Well I think this is mother natures way of telling me to SHUT IT!!! It's been soooooo hot and humid this week. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have this weather than the cold though. Sam and Parker don't seem to mind though, they run around outside like it was 60 degrees out. I've been spending lots of time in the purple elephant pool. What I wouldn't give for that big purple elephant pool that we had in Florida!!!!

It's been FOREVER!!

I realize its been FOREVER and a day since I have posted anything on here. Life has been super busy!!! We had a great weekend in Chicago last week! I'll add some pictures soon of our trip.

Sam and Parker finished Pre-school last week and are really quite upset about it. They wanted to keep going even in the summer! Wonder if that will last?? I'm sure Sept will be here before they know it.

Nate is entering crazy busy travel season. He left this morning for NYC. I'm very bummed about it. I was supposed to go with him because he is staying at the Marriott Marquis In Times Square, we stayed there a couple years ago and it was FABULOUS! However he is going to be extremely busy with meetings and dinners so I decided to pass. NOW I'm rethinking that! Ha! He is going to be gone until Friday so this is a LONG one:( My parents are also going to Mackinaw Island this week with some friends so I'm on my own this week. My Mother In Law was supposed to come and stay with me but she had to cancel at the last minute because they are in Kansas City helping some friends. It's going to be strange having everyone gone. LUCKILY I have an amazing friend, Dana, that offered to come over on Tuesday with her little boy Logan to watch the boys while I work. LOVE HER!!!

We have had so much going on that I haven't even gotten all my flowers for the yard yet. I feel like there just isn't enough time in the day!!!!!!!

Proud Mamma!

So Parker has become OBSESSED with coloring. His favorite thing is his twistable crayons. If you don't have these for your kids I would HIGHLY recommend them. He likes me to print off pages from the internet for him to color. I think that coloring on computer paper is easier for him than in an actual coloring book. The only problem with this is that he is a complete perfectionist and if he goes out of the line even a tiny tiny bit he throws a huge fit and rips the paper up and screams. Fun Fun! But he has not even looked at a toy in weeks. He spends all day up in my bedroom coloring "print off's" (what he calls the sheets) on my coffee table up there. I am so proud of his dedication though, I have really worried about his attention span but its great to see him enjoying something so much and he is sooooo proud of himself. Sam isn't that much into coloring though. He loves crafts though. Yesterday at Target we bought a "Make your own bouncy ball" kit. Sam thought that was FANTASTIC! I think sending them to pre-school sparked all this artistic behavior. So of course NOW I have to show off and brag about some of Park's "work"! Ha!

So proud of his Transformer!!!

He drew this flower for me totally free hand without any help. He just walked up to me and said "Mom, I made this for you" One of those moments that as a Mom you will always remember.

Corn On the Cob! Ha!

Sam and I picked up Poster board and Stick on letters. This is way more up Sam's alley! He had a blast with this. He is really into sounding out the letters and trying to spell words on his own. Love it!

This picture cracks me up! We call Sam "Little Hef" because he wears his robe ALL THE TIME right now. Notice that giant Bruise on his head? On Mothers Day we were walking through the mall parking lot, you know the covered one that is kind of dark. He was walking behind me, holding my hand and we were walking between cars. All the sudden I hear this WHACK and I knew what had happened before I even turned around. He ran right into the cars side mirror. I have to say that he handled it really well. Of course he screamed bloody murder but once we got him in the car I pulled out a piece of candy and he came around. Poor little guy is so dang clutzy!!! It actually looks a lot better now. The bump was HUGE for a couple of days:(

Mother's Day

Every year I still get choked up that I get to celebrate Mother's Day. I can remember all those years wishing, praying, hoping that someday I would have a child. The pain of infertility is so hard to go through. Luckily I had no idea how awesome being a Mom really is because it would have made it so much worse. I will NEVER forget that time in my life and everything I went through to be a Mother. So many doctors appointments, procedures, pills, shots, ultrasounds, I swear my car was on automatic pilot to the fertility clinic. Taking what seems like a thousand pregnancy tests and the disappointment of that big fat NEGATIVE each time.

I will never forget one Sunday morning that changed my life FOREVER. I had gone through the IVF process about 10 days prior and was so sure that it didn't work. When you go through IVF the medicine can cause your ovaries to swell up and its extremely painful. I woke up that Sunday and was in so much pain that I called the emergency line for my Doc to see what was going on. He advised us to drive to the office and he would do an ultrasound to see what was going on. Of course it was a Sunday and the office was closed so he did the ultrasound and then said that we should go to the hospital for a blood pregnancy test. We had scheduled to do this the following Tuesday so of course in my mind him telling us to go get the test meant that he just wanted to put us out of our misery so that we could move on.

We arrived to the hospital and went right to the lab, they drew my blood. We had a great nurse, we told her our situation and she was so sweet and supportive. She said it would take like half an hour and to go sit in the lobby. That was the single most stressful 30 minutes of my entire life. Nate and I sat there nervous as all hell. We prayed, I cried, he told me to relax, I told him to shut it, I cried some more, told him that we would just adopt and that maybe we were just not meant to be parents. I went through every scenario on why it didn't work. FINALLY after watching the seconds tick on my watch we walked back to the lab and what we thought was going to start a downward spiral of disappointment. The second I saw the nurse my heart stopped. She had the biggest smile on her face!! I started to shake, is it possible that I could finally get good news?? After 4 years of disappointment was it finally OUR time??

Now I should say that I ALWAYS do my research and I knew that if my HCG level was over 25 then that was considered a positive. I held my breath and finally said OK what was it?? I can't remember the exact number but it was like 500 and something. HOLY CRAP I am pregnant. Right?? She was like well you know you are but you have to call your doctor to get the final yes. Words cannot even begin to express the excitement that Nate and I felt at that moment. I immediately called the doctor and he said YUP you are definitely pregnant. He said he knew from the ultra sound and that was why he wanted us to go to get the test because he knew how nervous I was. He was like BUT you very high HCG levels so you need to know there is a big chance that you have more than one baby in there. We called Nate's parents and told them, called his sister, drove right to my parents house. Of course they all went through the disappointments throughout the years with us so they were THRILLED!

That day changed my life FOREVER. From that moment on everything became about being a Mom and it always will be. When we found out we were having twins we felt like we had one the library. Two little boys, WOW how did we ever get so dang lucky. I remember EVER night when I got in bed I would pray and just thank God that he was allowing me to be a Mom and that I would have healthy babies. I'm not going to lie, being pregnant was HARD on me. Look at me:

I was HUGE!!!! I gained 100 pounds. But it was all worth it!

This is the moment it all changed for Nate. The second the boys were born something changed in him. It just clicked and he has been an amazing father ever since they were born!!! I could not ask for a better father for my children or husband to go through this journey with!

Only a few minutes old!

Parker Andrew & Samuel Owen
Their first of MANY pictures together!!

I spent countless hours just watching them sleep!!!

So on a day like Mother's Day I always spend some time praying and thanking God for allowing me to have the privilege of raising Sam and Parker. Although not every day is perfect, or even close to it I do believe everything I went through has made me a better Mom. When the tantrums, whining and fighting goes on I think back to those "hard times" and remember how much worse it was not having all the chaos in our lives.

Thank you Sam and Parks, without you I wouldn't have a reason to celebrate!

My First Tea Party

On Thursday the boys had a special Mothers Day Tea Party at school. The boys invited Grandma Honey to come along too! It was so cute. They sang us songs and gave us presents. I got two wonderful framed pictures of my two little honey's. Afterwards me and the boys took Grandma out to lunch to say thank you for everything she does for us!

Me and Sam

Grandma Honey and Sam. I love this picture!!!
That must be some sour lemonade

Cheers!

The boys had to draw pictures of their Mom's and then they answered some questions about us and the teachers wrote it all out and posted it on the wall. For instance when asked how old I was Sam said 17. Gosh, I love that boy!!! :) It was so cute and something I will hang on to for a long time!

This is Sam's picture of me! I got some skinny legs!!! Love it!

This is Parker's view of me. I kind of think he may have gotten me confused with Frosty The Snow man! Ha! I thought he did a great job though and even had to ask the teachers if it was him that drew it. They said that it was all him and that he took a LONG time to get it just right. They went on to tell me that he is really talented with his drawing, coloring and writing skills. They said I have a future artist on my hands! Who would have thought that Parker wold love art so much! Such a great thing!

A Date With Parker......and some big BUGS!!!!

Monday morning my mom called and offered to take Sam for the afternoon so I could take Parker to the "Big Bug" exhibit at the museum. She must read my blog and just knew that I really wanted some one on one time with my boys!! Parker was SUPER excited because this is a boy who LOVES his bugs!! Sam was more than happy to go hang out with Grandma because Sam is a boy who does NOT enjoy a bug! I don't blame him a bit. So we headed downtown to the Van Andel Museum to check it out.

Parks got his brochure from the ticket lady and was ready to lead the way!

We stopped off on the way to see a few bears. This is Parker giving me his best "ROAR"

Getting Ready to go in! Still holding onto that brochure! Ha!

That is a big Fly!!

HELP this Praying Mantis is going to eat me!!
Can't you tell Parker is so annoyed.....I mean Scared!

Fighting Beetles

BIG Mantis!

Look at the size of that grass hopper.
Kind of weird though, like every couple of minutes this GIANT
Sized bottle of bug spray would sound and Parker
would say "Time to Kill The Grasshopper"
Yikes!!

Getting ready to climb the giant Spider Web

Puzzles about the life cycles of bugs!
Fascinating to this little man.

These were LIVE crickets. It was sooooo gross.
We must have spent 20 minutes watching these things
eat and chirp and hop all around. I kept my eye on the top to make
sure non of these little suckers got out! Ewww....

Up Close And Personal With a Cricket!

Taking a break in the cafe. Great scenery of the river and carousel!
Parker taking a picture of me!
He was probably thinking
"paybacks Mom"

This is the face of a VERY happy little boy who
REALLY enjoyed the bugs!!!

You rest Mom, I'll drive!

On our way to the carousel we stopped to watch them
take down the giant table and chairs from Art Prize.
He thought that was pretty cool too!

Parker got his very own special ride on the carousel because
we were the only ones there!!!

Seriously, would you want to ride this
crazy ass looking horse?!?!?!

So that about wraps up our trip to see the bugs. On the way home we stopped at the Ice Cream Garage and got Ice Cream cones. It was such a fun, relaxing, easy going time. He was so good and I just felt like we spent some good quality bonding time together! If you haven't been to see the bugs I highly recommend it! I think the exhibit is there until the end of the month. However the nice lady at the ticket counter stopped us on our way out and asked me if he was scared at all. I told her no, he wasn't scared but he is also old enough to realize that they aren't real either. She told me that they have had a lot of parents come back asking for a refund because their kids were so scared they wouldn't even go in. Yikes! Good thing we didn't bring Sam along because I have a feeling he may have been one of those kids!!!

Crazy Cousins!

We have been watching my adorable niece Kylie on Saturday nights because my brother is working on the weekends right now. The kids have a BLAST!! Its so loud and crazy but so much fun!

The Three Amigos!

We came up with a new game. Jump off the footstool!

Look at how HIGH she gets! Yikes!

Kylie is such a little Mom to Sam. She just adores him and can also boss him around and he does WHATEVER his Kylie tells him to do:) Ha!

They look like Brother and Sister in this picture!

My three most favorite kids in the whole wide world!
