First Trip To The Dentist

This week was our first trip to see Dr Ludwig, our dentist. I purposefully waited until the boys were almost four (less than 2 weeks now) because I didn't want them to be afraid. I wanted to make it fun, I have been talking about it for weeks now. I would say things like "guess where you guys get to go soon?" and they would ask where and I would tell them to the dentist. We watched a show where the kids went to the dentist and they thought that was super cool. So basically I kind of tricked them into thinking the dentist was a super cool place. Nate had gone the week before and came home with a new toothbrush and that mesmerized S & P. That was all they talked about was getting their new toothbrushes when they were done.

We arrived Monday afternoon, they were pumped. I was a little nervous about Sam. After seeing Parker get thru that allergy appointment last week I knew he would be fine BUT Sam is VERY particular about people touching him. They did AWESOME!!! It helps that we have such a great dentist, hygienist and even the girls in the office are great! I have been going there for as long as I could remember.

They cleaned my teeth first and the boys were mesmerized by all the tools. They both ended up sitting on my lap so they could get an closer look. I think this REALLY helped because they saw everything that was about to happen so they knew they had nothing to be afraid of. Parker went first and did great. By the time it was Sams turn he jumped right in the chair and was ready to go. The dentist said we are doing a great job with their brushing and they have very little plaque. He said "oh you must not let them have much candy" I laughed and said welllllllll.....we do but we are really good at making them brush!

We left with out any crying, tantrums or freak outs by any of us!! SUCCESS!!! The next day both boys asked if they could go back again that day:) ha!

Super excited about all the toys in the waiting room

Sweet Sam in the waiting room!

They were fascinated with Dr Ludwig's cool goggles
He was so nice and let them have a look.

They let Sam work the chair and lower Parker down.

No Peanuts For Parker:(

This is our new Motto!

Yesterday Parker and I ventured to his first allergist appointment. He has always had a reaction to peanuts. Usually throwing up or just getting itchy. However it's gotten worse and the last time we went to Logan's for dinner he had to leave the restaurant because just being in there without even eating a peanut gave him a reaction.

I wasn't really sure what to expect at this appointment. They told me it was going to be 3 hours. My first thought was "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" 3 hours in a doctors office. My second thought was.....Thank god its not Sam going through this. Parker is sooooo much braver when it comes to the doctor. I know that is horrible BUT I'm just being honest:)

We were greeted by Maria, a FABULOUS nurse. She was so good with Parks. She brought us to our room where we would be spending the next 3 hours. She talked us through how the appointment would go. She talked directly to Parker and didn't treat him like an insignificant person in the room so I knew she and I would get along. He is very sharp, he wants to be acknowledged and talked to directly. For some reason there are quite a few adults that don't seem to understand that?!?!?

Then the doctor came in and checked him over. We made the appointment because of his peanut allergy HOWEVER we have noticed that for the past 6 months to a year he sneezes like crazy every morning and then by mid-morning he is fine. She took one look at him and said she could tell he was a kid that suffered from allergies. She looked inside his nose and said it was very raw, inflamed and swollen (my poor baby) I felt horrible. How did I not realize he had been suffering so bad. She said they would do a full allergy testing on him. Checking for not only peanut allergies but for The usual....Mold, dust, trees, pollen all that.

The first test was pretty easy. He had to lay on his tummy for like 15 minutes straight. She pricked him with about 50 little toothpick looking things. The hard part was he had to lay there for 10 minutes while it was itching and not move. The Peanut scratch was CRAZY. It swelled up bigger than the size of a quarter. She was pretty shocked that he is THAT allergic and has never had to be hospitalized for his allergy.

The next step is they give him shots right under the skin on his one arm to see if the higher dosage would cause a reaction. I wasn't sure how this was going to go. They gave him two shots and he kind of panicked. He was like Nope, I don't want you to do that anymore. The nurse had a panicked look also and I found out later its because she hates having to hold kids down. I told them to give me a minute so I could talk to him. I knew she was probably rolling her eyes at me but I knew I could talk him into it. She brought in another nurse Miss Leslie who was a little older and grandmotherly. Parks really took to her and let her hold his hand. He sucked it up and let her do the other FIFTEEN shots. I have NEVER been more proud of my little boy. He was such a trooper.

After that she had to do 5 more shots on the other arm. I asked Parker if it was ok, he said "Fine, I'll do 5 more but then thats it......and I want a new toy" I said, you got it buddy. Again he did great.

This a picture of the 17 shots she did on his right arm. This is 1 day after. Still welts and still itchy. She wrote numbers and then did the shots right next to the number so she could keep track.

This is his left arm after the 5 shots. Again this is almost 24 hours later and he still has welts.

After all that she came back and said that obviously he is allergic to peanuts. Life-threatening allergic....Yikes! So we went through all the things we need to do, how to talk to his pre-school, how to get a medic-alert bracelet (I'm suuuure he is going to wear that! Ha!) then we got to the other allergies.

He is allergic to Dust Mites, Mold, Grass, Trees, Cockroaches, Cats and DOGS! I was shocked. She said they are all significant allergies. He is REALLY allergic to dogs:( I hope he grows out of that one though because he LOVES animals and we always talked about getting him a dog when he gets older. He is very reactive to Dust-mites. Which live in Stuffed animals, carpets, blankets, pillows. Ya know everything Parker has been sleeping with. So last night Nate DEEP cleaned his bedroom. We are going to get dust covers for his pillows and hopefully help with the problem. He said he is fine with no stuffies in his bed. She gave us some Zyrtec to give him at night and in the morning. I gave it to him last night and this morning and he has only sneezed once so far. She also gave us a nasal "Wash" we tried to do it last night. I showed him how to do it by doing it on myself first and WOW that is a weird sensation. It goes up one nostril and out the other. I tried to do it on him and he did NOT enjoy it. I said we would try again later. We are going back to the allergist in 6 months to see how he is doing. If nothing has improved we will start allergy shots which help build up his immunities so that he won't actually have allergies. They are expensive and very time consuming, they said it takes almost 3-5 years to be through the shots. So if he gets better without having to put him through all that great, if not, we will become very close with the allergist:)
Hopefully we Will see less of this soon!

Going Boating!

Today me and the boys are driving up to Gary and Keri's and are going to spend the day on their pontoon boat or as Sam likes to call it their "Party Boat". On of my favorite people, Auntie Beryl is going to come along also!! Looking forward to spending the day in the sun and chilling out!!!

Not their actual boat but very similar. Oh and there won't be an actual mountain in the background BUT you get the idea:) Ha!

Sooo Much Sun....So little time...

We have been so busy this summer that I have not had enough time to sit down and blog. This weather has been AWESOME!!! It's a little humid but compared to last year I would take it in a heartbeat!!!

Our days have been filled with playing outside in our little blow up pool and trips to the beach. Sam and Parks are LOVING the water this year which makes Mamma VERY happy:)

Last weekend we took a little trip over to visit Grandma and Grandpa Henrion in Pinconning. Which is near Bay City for all of those who are not familiar with it. We were going to go down to the water and see the Tall ships that were in town BUT the boys were a little cranky and it was SUPER hot and humid and we knew it was going to be packed so we passed. We ended up just going to the park and then got some pizza and played outside. We spent the night Saturday and came home Sunday afternoon.

Sunday evening I went shopping and to see Eclipse with my sister in law, Keri. LOVED it!!!

Monday we spent the day at the beach with Monica and her FOUR kids, Dana and Logan and Dana's sister Nikki and her little guy Landon. We all had a blast splashing around in the water and chasing after fish (not sure how I feel about these crazy fish that actually bump into you, yikes).

Fun Girls Day!!!

This is going to be me today. Yup, that's me alright
in my new polka dot bikini.....Ok so I'm dreaming
about the last part.....

But seriously......Today I'm going to my friend Erika's house with Monica
and we are going to spend the day floating in her beautiful pool....The best part is that
we all got baby sitters so we can enjoy it!!! FABULOUS!!! We are all bringing
snacks and we are going to veg out in our floaty's. There may even be a cocktail or
two involved.....I'm just sayin...

THEN if that wasn't enough I am having a girls NIGHT also. This
one is with my Mom, Sister In Law and Niece.
We are going to dinner at Rose's and then going to Annie
At the Circle Theater.

Annie was my ALL time favorite movie growing up
I used to run around the house singing "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"
I am so excited to see it with my 6 year old niece, Kylie.
She already loves the movie so I'm sure she will love seeing it Live!

Mud Men!!!

With this super hot weather we have been spending most of our day outside. Today Parker kept telling me he wanted to make "MUD PIES" so I told him to let me think about it and after dinner I would hook him up. We used Potting Soil, water and old pans. It was seriously the most hilarious thing. First they had to make the mud (which looked disgustingly just like poop) then they started filling the pans. I was wondering exactly how long it would take before it turned into a full blown mud fight. Not too long!!! Parker was right in his element because he loves to get dirty. Sam even enjoyed getting all muddy. They were laughing and chasing each other all over the driveway and front yard. I LOVED IT!!! I think that boys just need to get dirty. Nate and I just sat back and laughed. Then they both took a 45 minute bath to get rid of all the mud!!!

Before we went outside I made them put on an old pair of Pajama shorts. I knew this was going to be messy. Then they wanted to show of their new tattoos.

Sam is Bad to the bone!

4th of July Weekend

We got home from vacation on the 3rd which was awesome because Nate still had 2 days off. Sunday the 4th we just hung around the house. It was pretty hot so we played outside with the kids in the pool. I was actually sitting in the kiddy pool because it was so hot. No there are not any pictures of that! ha! Nate grilled us up some burgers which were delish. Then we had our own little fireworks display here. Nate loved being able to finally light them off again without the boys screaming and running in the other direction. The boys took a two hour nap because they were so exhausted so we ended up taking them downtown to see the fireworks. They LOVED it!!! There were so many people down there but we found a good spot to sit and watch and let me tell ya the people watching alone was worth the trip. We didn't get home until almost 11:30 at night. I didn't bring my camera which was bothering me at first but it was also nice to just enjoy the moment without trying to capture it on film.

Monday the 5th we headed up to Gary and Keri's to go boating. They have a pontoon boat docked at Hardy which is like a mile from their house. I didn't really know what to expect but I was shocked at how beautiful it was. The kids love being on the water now which makes me and Nate think that our own boat might be in our near future. I didn't realize that Hardy has no homes on it. Keri said it's like 18 miles long or something crazy like that. Anyways you just dock your boat at one of their beaches and you can either play on the beach or float in the water. It was so nice and relaxing. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Sam and Nate with their white hats.

Love this picture of my little sweetie!

Parks just chillin

One of the loud fireworks

Perhaps a little TOO loud!

Parker got a little freaked out by the noise which is shocking
because he is one of the loudest kids I know!

These Smoke bombs were by far the favorite
but they STINK!

Light it up Daddy!

Funny faces!

Sam hung out there the whole time
