This week was our first trip to see Dr Ludwig, our dentist. I purposefully waited until the boys were almost four (less than 2 weeks now) because I didn't want them to be afraid. I wanted to make it fun, I have been talking about it for weeks now. I would say things like "guess where you guys get to go soon?" and they would ask where and I would tell them to the dentist. We watched a show where the kids went to the dentist and they thought that was super cool. So basically I kind of tricked them into thinking the dentist was a super cool place. Nate had gone the week before and came home with a new toothbrush and that mesmerized S & P. That was all they talked about was getting their new toothbrushes when they were done.
We arrived Monday afternoon, they were pumped. I was a little nervous about Sam. After seeing Parker get thru that allergy appointment last week I knew he would be fine BUT Sam is VERY particular about people touching him. They did AWESOME!!! It helps that we have such a great dentist, hygienist and even the girls in the office are great! I have been going there for as long as I could remember.
They cleaned my teeth first and the boys were mesmerized by all the tools. They both ended up sitting on my lap so they could get an closer look. I think this REALLY helped because they saw everything that was about to happen so they knew they had nothing to be afraid of. Parker went first and did great. By the time it was Sams turn he jumped right in the chair and was ready to go. The dentist said we are doing a great job with their brushing and they have very little plaque. He said "oh you must not let them have much candy" I laughed and said welllllllll.....we do but we are really good at making them brush!
We left with out any crying, tantrums or freak outs by any of us!! SUCCESS!!! The next day both boys asked if they could go back again that day:) ha!
Super excited about all the toys in the waiting room
Sweet Sam in the waiting room!
They were fascinated with Dr Ludwig's cool goggles
He was so nice and let them have a look.
